The
Highland Day festival has taken many forms over the years. Origins of
the event can be traced back to the early 1900s when Patuxent Grange
311 hosted harvest festivals. Then in the hip 1970s, community members
came together to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Highland and a fair
was held each spring. Over the years, many prominent Highlanders took
charge of the event. Fast-forward to 2005 when the Greater Highland
Crossroads Association took over the planning and execution of Highland
Day. GHCA has now hosted the event for six years. Photos
taken at each of the Highland Day events are made available for your
viewing enjoyment below (Some years have not yet been added, so please
check back later).
Highland
Day 2005
On
a beautiful, sunny October day, the twelve Heart of Highland merchants
were joined by over 30 other exhibitors along the four corners of the
crossroads. We estimated that over 1,300 folks were in attendance to
check out the festivities.

Highland
Day 2006
Although
the weather did not completely cooperate, over 75 merchants
(record-breaking number!), exhibitors and political candidates were on
hand to meet and greet members of Highland and the surrounding
communities.
